Before getting started
Scanning tips
Step 1: Uploading the exam papers
Step 2: Analyzing the papers
Before you start importing student papers, make sure you already have an exam created and its questions designed.
See Creating a paper exam, Creating an exam question, and Printing an exam for more information.
When you're importing exam papers, you can optimize the scan for better results. Head to Scanning tips for some tips on how to get the best results when scanning your exam papers.
From the exam dashboard, head to the Import answers tab and click Import answers.
Select the import method. Here we'll go for Import handwritten answers.
Click on the Upload button and select the file you want to import and click Next.
The files are the papers of the students, scanned and saved as PDFs. You can split the papers into multiple files or have them all scanned into one file.
After uploading the files, you need to specify the number of question columns in the papers.
One column is when all questions are aligned in one column.
Two columns is when there are two questions next to each other in each row. (you can see the illustrations in the system to understand better)
Enter the number of papers per student and click Next.
The number of papers per student should correspond to the number of pages in the PDF file. For example, if you have 5 students and each student has 2 papers, you should enter 2 in the Number of papers per student field and the number of the pages in the PDF file should be 10.
Now that you've uploaded the papers. The AI will analyze the papers for relevant information. The AI will highlight the questions, answers, and the student information and will show a sample of the results.
Go over the highlighted information quickly and make sure the AI drew the boxes correctlty. You can use drag the boxes around or resize them to make sure they are in the correct location.
If a question is not highlighted, you can click the question number from the questions menu and a new box will appear. You can drag the box to the correct location.
Once you're happy with the results, click Submit fields.
The AI will analyze the papers again, match the papers with their students, find the answers, calculate the grades, and show the results.
Analyzing the papers can take a few minutes, depending on the number of papers you have. You can leave the page and come back later to see the results.
Usually the AI will find all the students on its own, but if it didn't find one of them, you will see an additional page. You will see a list of the unrecognized students and their information on the papers.
You can also create new students and link them to the papers, see Adding students by importing their papers for more information.
Click on the Select button next to the student's information to match the information with a student in the system.
Once you're done, click Submit.
You can now head to the grading page to see the results.
