Printing an exam

Before getting started

Before you print out an exam, you need to create an exam and add questions to it. See Creating a paper exam and Creating an exam question for more information.

How to print an exam

  1. From the exam page, go to the Print tab. You will see a preview of the exam paper and a list of settings to customize it.

  2. Under Paper options > Paper size, select the paper size you want to use. The default is A4.

  3. Adjust the Exam details settings to display information such as the exam name, the exam duration, and the exam instructions on the exam paper.

  4. Under Student fields, enable the fields you want your students to fill in, such as their name, student number.

  5. Use the Questions sections to customize the look of the questions on the paper. You can display the questions in two colums, make the font bold, change the space between the questions, and more.

  6. When you're done, click Print. This will open a new window with browser print dialog. You can print the paper or save it as a PDF.

Paper settings

  • Paper size: Select the paper size you want to use. The default is A4.

Exam details

  • Organization logo: display the logo of the organization on the paper.

  • Organization name: display the name of the organization on the paper.

  • Exam date: display the date of the exam on the paper.

  • Exam name: display the exam name on the paper.

  • Exam duration: display the exam duration on the paper.

  • Total grade: display the total grade of the exam on the paper.

  • Course name: display the course name of the exam on the paper.

  • Exam instructions: display the exam instructions on the paper.

Student fields

  • First and last name: display an input field for the student's first and last name on the paper.

  • Student number: display an input field for the student's student number on the paper.

  • Custom fields: display an input field for a custom field on the paper. You can add as many custom fields as you want.

Questions

  • Two question columns: display the questions in two columns on the paper.

  • Compact choices: make the choices of the questions take less space on the paper.

  • Question grade: display the grade of each question on the paper.

  • Bold font questions: make the questions text bold.

  • Space for answers: add space for the students to write their answers on the paper. This is used for text questions.

  • Space between questions: adjust the space between the questions.

  • Font size: adjust the font size of the questions.

When you enable Space for answers, you can adjust the height of the space for each question from the paper directly by dragging the bottom border of the space box.
